If you are unfamiliar, the premise of the series is that within two days and on a budget, Robert Irvine updates a failing restaurant with the goal of helping to restore it to profitability.

This episode was filmed in Williamston, Michigan and now that it has aired, Kris and Dani Kress can talk publicly about the awesome experience. If their names sound familiar, there is good reason for that. Kriss Kress is the guitarist in Avalon Black and works at The Dapper Barber Company. Dani Kress works at The Machine Shop and Summerset Salon & Day Spa.

I had the opportunity to talk with Dani and Kris about this unique experience, and here is what they had to say.

What restaurant is being featured on this particular episode of 'Restaurant: Impossible'?

The name of the restaurant is Sunny Side Cafe in Williamston, Michigan.

How did you both get on the show?

Dani - Robert Irvine volunteers his time with an organization called T.A.P.S, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, that I am a part of. At the T.A.P.S National Seminar, I had the opportunity to talk with him. I mentioned that Kris was a fan of his, and the topic of us living in Michigan came up, which lead to us being extended the opportunity to attend the filming.

How long does it take to tape an episode of 'Restaurant: Impossible'?

Kris - The taping itself (I think) took two days. One day for the re-design of the restaurant and another for the big reveal of the finished product! We were there for day two which was the big reveal!

What was Robert Irvine like in person?

Dani - Robert Irvine is one of the nicest people I have ever met! He has such a warm and caring personality.

Kris - Robert Irvine is one of the nicest people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting! I was a little nervous because I grew up watching and learning to cook from watching all of the amazing Food Network shows, including his. He truly is a genuine person who takes pride in what he does and cares for the people around him. I think we all could learn something from him.

How exciting, I cannot wait to watch it. Here is the episode outline,

Robert Irvine heads to Williamston, Mich., to resurrect the Sunnyside Café, a little breakfast joint with big problems. Owner Jeanette is an intense micromanager who alienates her staff and refuses to make any changes to the restaurant inside or out. Robert wastes no time addressing the problems and finding solutions to keep this restaurant from going under.

The episode is set to air again on the Food Network this Thursday, March 9th at 9:00 AM. For additional show times, click here.

Thank you so much to Kris and Dani Kress for sharing their experience. Be sure to check out some pictures and video clips from the episode below.

You can also see Kris and his band Avalon Black perform at The Machine Shop on Friday, April 7th.
