We first reported five Genesee County, MI Rite Aid stores would be closing, back in September, as the company prepared for bankruptcy.

Now, more stores have been added to the closure list around the Greater Flint Area.

Rite Aid wasn't always in Michigan.

Rite Aid started in 1962 but didn't have any stores in Michigan until they purchased Perry Drug Stores in 1995.

They've also been mired in opioid lawsuits and settlements - allegedly filling prescriptions and ignoring red flags.

All of that, plus inflation and an increase in retail theft... it's no wonder Chapter 11 is on the table.

Rite Aid stores closing in Flint and Genesee County, MI.

Two more stores have been added to the closure list according to ABC-12:

The previously announced stores already closed in the area include:

  • Bristol Road and Saginaw Street in Burton
  • Atherton Road and Fenton Road in Flint
  • Davison Road and Center Road in Burton
  • Hill Road and Dort Hwy (2021)

The company says employees will be offered jobs at nearby locations. No official date for new store closures has been released at this time.
