Jelly Roll has captured the hearts of fans worldwide. But what truly sets him apart is his unwavering commitment to uplifting those who've faced adversity in their lives. His personal journey, filled with triumph over hardships, has resonated with countless people. Now, he's ready to share his story right here in Flint, to inspire and empower those who need it most, something Sheriff Swanson knows is important to those facing the same tough time in life.

Jelly Roll has been very open about his past and has openly talked about earning his high school diploma while behind bars and never being able to have a "real" graduation ceremony light those inmates that graduate the Genesee County Jail's Ignite program, but that's about to change.

Jelly Roll is Heading to Flint!

Jelly Roll will be heading to Flint for a long-overdue graduation celebration of his own, something Sheriff Swanson feels is well-earned and important.

"Jelly Roll represents what we've all been given, second chances", Swanson told us. "And for that, I'm going to give him the graduation commencement ceremony he never had right here at the Genesee County Jail in Flint, Michigan."

In a recent interview, the singer shared his thoughts on the upcoming visit and special event saying,

“I think it’s really cool they’re doing something for me, but I’m more excited to bring the guitar and do something exciting for them,” he said. “I remember being in those units and being in that cell and just how little light came through. I’d love to bring that little light of mine in there and let it shine a little bit.”

Jelly Roll will be in Flint on December 5th! He will be making a stop before his big concert in Detroit and will finally have his graduation. Swanson plans on making this "a spectacular event and night". According to Sheriff Swanson, the community will be invited outside of the jail for music and more!

According to Sheriff Swanson, the event will be one for the books made to show everyone that life is what you make it and it's never too late to change your path and inspire others.
