Time to be a Toys R Us kid again!  The iconic store we all knew and loved is back just in time for the holiday season thanks to the toy store’s partnership with Macy’s Department store.

The news came in July that the store would see new life thanks to a partnership with the department store. As a result, Macy’s started opening new Toys R Us locations in 451 stores this month just in time for the biggest shopping season of the year.

Although things will be a little different this go around for the legendary toy store giant that filed for bankruptcy in 2017 and closed all locations in 2018, most are thrilled to see a piece of their own childhood back for the holiday season. The new in-store shops will be between 1,000 and 10,000 square feet, with flagship Macy's locations being larger.

Michigan will see 14 new Toys R Us stores throughout the state, including right here in Flint. The Genesee Valley Center Macy's has already opened Toys R Us on the second floor to shoppers.  According to Mlive, the retailer will offer those popular brand-name toys that everyone loves such as Barbie, Lego, Marvel, and more.

Other Michigan Toys R Us locations are:

  • Ann Arbor - Briarwood Mall
  • Dearborn - Fairlane Town Center
  • Grandville - River Town Crossings
  • Kentwood - Woodland Mall
  • Novi - Twelve Oaks Mall
  • Okemos - Meridian Mall
  • Portage - The Crossroads
  • Saginaw - Fashion Square Mall
  • Sterling Heights - Lakeside Mall
  • Taylor - Southland Center
  • Traverse City - Grand Traverse Mall
  • Troy - Oakland Mall
  • Troy - Somerset Collection

Flint's original Toys R Us was just across Linden Road from where the revival store is now located. The store location is now home to Ashley Homestores. And yes...Geoffrey is back too.
