Remember how much gym class sucked in Middle School?  All of the pushups, sit-ups and running in the middle of the day seemed like they had no purpose.  Now it looks like our gym teachers actually knew what they were talking about!

A new study shows that middle school students who are physically fit are likely to score higher on standardized tests measuring reading and math abilities.

And, "The more physically fit kids were, the higher their scores."

Researchers suggest, "Parents should encourage their kids to be physically active. There are some real cognitive and academic benefits that come from physical fitness."
