Largest Michigan Based Bank Set To Cut 7 Percent of Local Workforce
Chemical Bank made the announcement today that they plan on cutting staff and consolidating branches.
After the Chemical Bank merger with Talmer Bank was completed, they became the largest Michigan based bank. Now they are cutting seven percent of their workforce, along with consolidating dozens of branches.
According to the filing to the Securities and Exchange Commissions, the employees affected have already been notified. The layoffs will be completed by the end of September, and at least 38 branches will be consolidated by the end of the year.
When all the dust settles, Chemical bank plans to have 211 branches throughout Michigan.
So far, the specific branches that will be closed or downsized have not been listed. There are seven branches in Genesee County, so there is a good chance that one of them may be on the cut list.
Have you heard from a family member or friend that works for Chemical Bank, which locations may be closed?
