Reclaimed by Whaley Launches Website to Get Back to Business

When they opened their doors back in October, Reclaimed by Whaley was excited to bring new business to downtown Flint and offer a wonderful learning opportunity for their foster youth.

The trendy store houses new and vintage clothes, homegoods, accessories, and more for retail sale. The items sold, which are donated to Whaley Children’s Center for resale, raise money for the unique home for children, and provide job opportunities to young adults who happened to grow up in foster care.

With several successful months under their belt, the resale boutique with a purpose found itself amid the coronavirus pandemic. Like other small businesses, they were forced to temporarily shut their doors to customers.

Now Reclaimed by Whaley is getting back to business. They have started accepting donations and have just launched a new website for online shopping. Donations are being accepted only at the Reclaimed By Whaley store in downtown Flint,141 W. Second Street,  on Thursdays from 11am-4pm. All donations are being kept at the store for several days and then cleaned thoroughly before being sold or taken the the Whaley Children's Center.

Reclaimed by Whaley's new website will allow customers to shop a selection of new and pre-owned men’s and women’s clothing online giving people a chance to support the boutique while staying safe at home. The boutique is even offering up an official "Reclaimed" t-shirt for purchase. "This has been a very hard time for the community and the Center, we are all learning how to adjust", said Whaley CEO Mindy Williams.    "Opening the online store gives us hope and the community connection we have all been missing during this time."

All sales directly benefit the 42 foster children living at Whaley Children's Center. Williams commented, "The revenue we receive through the store provides us funding to help make the Center home for 42 kids.  As a true non-profit, every penny counts and adds up to assist us in meeting the "extra" needs of our kids each day."

Supporting a local business is always the best choice, but supporting a local business that has a direct impact on the lives of children is even better.
