Suddenly, many are faced with the unexpected task of keeping their kids busy and learning at home due to school closings. Parents looking to keep their children's minds wired during these school closures, because of the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, can now turn to a familiar friendly face.

Scholastic, a name well know for years when it comes to learning, is offering up a special program.The educational company has launched a "Learn at Home"  website that has daily courses for students from Pre-kindergarten to grades 6 and higher.

According to a press release, Scholastic Learn At Home provides approximately three hours of learning opportunities per day, for up to four weeks of instruction, including writing and research projects based on nonfiction articles and stories, virtual field trips, reading and geography challenges, access to their new digital community for kids Scholastic Home Base, and more.

“As more and more teachers, students, and families around the world are affected by the coronavirus, our priority is to support them in the best way we know how—by providing them with rich stories and meaningful projects that will keep kids academically active,” says Lauren Tarshis, Senior Vice President & Editor-in-Chief/Publisher, Scholastic Classroom Magazines.

The special site is divided into four sections based on grade level, currently has five days' worth of content. An additional 15 days of content is due soon. The website is accessible on any device that has internet and no sign up is required. It will remain free and open indefinitely, Scholastic said.

The editors of Scholastic Classroom Magazines have also launched a collection of kid-friendly resources for learning about coronavirus to make some tough discussions a little easier during this tough time. You can view those resources here.
