Swartz Creek schools are closed today as the city, and surrounding communities deals with a boil water advisory.

Parents were notified before the end of the school day on Monday, that all Swartz Creek schools would be shut down on Tuesday. The Genesee County Drain Commissioners office issued a boil water advisory for Swartz Creek, Clayton Township, and Gaines Township.

There are two water main breaks that need to be dealt with. They were discovered Monday afternoon on Bristol Rd, and I-69 near Miller Rd.

The water testing teams will start working on the cause of the low pressure, and then they'll make sure the water is safe for use before the advisory is lifted.

The Drain Commissioner warns that it could be a week before the boil advisory is lifted. There is no word on if Swartz Creek Schools will be forced to close additional days due to the water issues.
