According to their news release, the mega retailer is making the decision once again to allow their employees to spend time with family. "Guests loved our new approach so much that we’ve already decided to carry one change forward", the company said.

The company is showing confidence in the move already based on the fact that their sales for the 2020 busy holiday season were up thanks for online buyers. The pandemic found many skipping the malls and busy shopping via their laptops and phones.

Target took a new approach with closing on Thanksgiving and the results were a win. The retailers notes in the press statement that customers responded in positive way to a new way of shopping with Target providing great incentives and stress-free seasonal deal shopping ( no crowds)  with the elimination of a traditional Black Friday.

Target actually welcomed 3.3 million new guests to their Target Circle loyalty program that can earn them extra rewards, showing consumers were still loyal to Target even during the pandemic.

Target is the first to announce the Thanksgiving day 2021 closure more than 10 months before the November holiday. Target operates 1,900 stores across the U.S. including two in Genesee County. One on Miller Road. in Flint Township, and the other in Fenton on Owen Road.
