Walmart made the decision Saturday to close all their 24-hour stores nationwide nightly during the overnights to allow them to sanitize and restock the stores.

In a message to customers and employees, Dacona Smith, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Walmart, said starting today (Sunday, March 15th), they would start operating new hours from 6 am to 11 pm.   Employees will still be working as scheduled, they'll just be sanitizing and restocking, rather than having to worry about customers as well.

The new hours wouldn't affect any Walmart or Walmart Neighborhood Market with previous set reduced hours - like if they're open 7 am to 10 pm .. those operating hours would stay.

The new hours aren't permanent but will stick around until further notice, according to the message from Dacona Smith.

Walmart has a COVID-19 policy for employees, which includes waiving their attendance occurrence policy, so employees can stay home if they are uneasy with coming to work. But if the store or distribution center is closed because of quarantine, employees will be paid for two weeks. Same if the employee test positive for COVID-19.
