Malik Ellison's stock is rising as he and his Beecher Buccaneers drive further into the tournament.

Ellison already has two state championships, and two All-State awards under his belt, but he might need a bigger belt to add his latest award.

Malik was just named the AP Class C Boys Player of the Year for the 2016-17 season.

As a senior, Ellison has averaged 26 points, 5 assists, 4 steals, and 3.5 boards per game.  He started the season with no Division I colleges offering scholarships, but that has already started to turn around.

Ellison just got an offer from Eastern Michigan, but there will most likely be more to come as he leads Buctown toward another state championship.

Beecher faces off against Detroit Edison tomorrow (March 23rd) at 1pm in East Lansing.  If they can pull off that win, Ellison will be playing for his third state championship.

Malik was shocked by the announcement, and hit his Twitter account to show his appreciation.

Good luck Malik, we'll all be pulling for you and Buctown to hoist another championship trophy!
