In an effort to help stop the spread of the Coronavirus, Genesee County Parks officials have decided not to open Crossroads Village this summer.

The decision was made this week just before Governor Whitmer announced that the Stay Home order would be extended into May. There's no doubt that this was not an easy decision for park officials because Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad are two of the most popular attractions.

There is a silver lining in this announcement though, it looks like the parks plan to be open for Halloween and Christmas of this year.

Many of the closures that have happened are tough to deal with because they make everyday life a little harder. This one is tough more on a mental level. My family visits Crossroads at least twice a year, at Halloween and Christmas, but going in the summer gives the village a completely different vibe.

It really is like stepping back in time during the summer time, especially if you ride the Genesee Belle. I hope that everyone involved with Crossroads stays safe and healthly during this closure, and next summer we'll be able to take a trip back in time once again.
