Flint Junior High Closed Wednesday Due To High Temps

Flint Junior High is closed today due to the high temperatures that are expected, but all other Flint schools are open.

Temps are supposed to be near 90 today in Flint, along with high humidity, the heat index will make it feel even hotter. The temps are too much for the new Flint Middle School to handle right now. Students are being told to stay home while teachers are supposed to head to the administrative building for professional development.

This is one of the problems we pointed out earlier this year about the balanced calendar. While I'm 100% behind adopting a balanced schedule for all schools in our area, the heat issue has to be addressed. If a school does not have proper air conditioning, then school in August is a bad idea.

Flint Schools are working on addressing the heat issue, and plans on having classes as normal on Thursday.
