The Flint School Board agreed to lay off 55 teachers in an effort to cut $8 Million out of the deficit, but delayed the decision after some major concerns were raised.

The delay will not affect how many teachers are let go, but could change what names are on the list, and when they will be let go.

The main issue is that the teachers insurance expires only a few days after the layoffs were announced, leaving some scrambling to figure out insurance plans.

The board knew that they were going to do these layoffs for a while now, and the teachers union is upset at the timing.  The board recognized the error, and is working to fix things.  Unfortunately, the layoffs are still coming, and even though they will help save money, the deficit is still going to be at $14 Million!
