General Motors is making plans for 2018 to hire back 500 assembly plant workers who will be laid off in May.

GM made the announcement earlier this week stating they will hire back 500 of the 1,100 workers that will lose their jobs in May . The 1,100 jobs in Lansing that will be lost will be moved to an assembly plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee for production of the GMC Acadia.

The automotive company plans to bring back the workers for production of new versions of GM vehicles in 2018. GM also stated it will be adding 220 jobs at the Romulus, MI plant to build 10-speed automatic transmissions.
