A couple of students that were attending in-person summer school recently tested positive for the COVID-19. They were tested after a judge ordered all students in the summer program to be tested.

According to MLive, more than 250 students have been tested since U.S. District Judge Arthur Tarnow issued the order Tuesday. At least 600 students have been attending in-person classes which began last week.

Denise Fair, city health officer:

This is what I would have expected. We are not seeing clusters and at this point, this does not suggest school spread.

A lot of people (including) parents have been putting up a big fight over in-person classes. Of course, these students and teachers are required to wear face masks and the classrooms have a limit on the number of students allowed.

I'm not sure where I stand on this topic. I asked my son the other night if wanted to go back to start 9th grade in school or do the virtual classes. Without hesitation, he said, he wants to go back to school. Personally, I don't think it's a bad idea as long as the necessary precautions are in place. The only thing I worry about is kids not taking it seriously and doing stupid stuff like taking their masks off and spitting on each other, dumb stuff like that. Let's be honest, kids can be idiots.
