Kyle Kuzma and Monte Morris Make Sure Flint Is Featured In 2017 NBA Draft
Kyle Kuzma and Monte Morris made sure Flint was well represented last night in the 2017 NBA Draft.
Kuzma, who played at Bentley, then for Utah, was drafted 27th by the Brooklyn Nets. He was then immediately traded to the Lakers. This was by design, and Kuzma had said all along that he would like to play for the Lakers. He followed up his draft announcement by retweeting one of his soon to be teammates.
Monte Morris moved from State Championships at Beecher, to an amazing career at Iowa State before being drafted 51st by the Denver Nuggets. Despite being a few states away, Morris has always made sure to keep his close roots to Flint. Monte followed his draft announcement with a simple tweet.
Both men came home to celebrate their next step with friends and family. Kuzma celebrated in Burton when he learned that he would be heading to LA.
Monte Morris held a draft party at Signature Chophouse, and was surrounded by friends, family, and a few celebrities.
Olympic Gold Medalist, WBC Silverbelt Champ, and Flint star Claressa Shields was at the party and posted a pic with Monte.
Flint has a long history of great athletes in all sports, but we are particularly well represented in the NBA.
Morris and Kuzma will definitely keep this tradition alive and well. Both are not only great ball players, but they are great men as well. Congrats to both Monte and Kyle, and we are anxious to see you show the rest of the world what everyone in Flint has known for a while.
