Meet Roneeka Pleasant-Brown – Black History Month Spotlight

Roneeka Pleasant Brown is a mother of 3 children and married to Chef Nate Brown.  Roneeka is also know as R Simone to many of her close friends and family.  Roneeka is Flint native graduating from Flint Northwestern High School in 1998 and receiving her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan-Flint. 

Currently, Roneeka is the Assistant Program Director for the University of Michigan-Flint.  Not only is Roneeka an employee at UM-Flint, R. Simone is a established author of her debut book 'My Husband Mistress Is Me,' releasing in December 2010.  Author R. Simone has starred in two theatrical productions at The Whiting Auditorium, 'Nosey Neighbors' and 'I Need A Man.'   Currently, Roneeka teaches etiquette and career programs to teenage girls while she is the Assistant Coach for Southwestern Girls JV basketball team.

Author Roneeka is the own and operator of her own business, 'R. Simone Designs.'  The company specialize in creative innovative t-shirt designs and jewelry.

Roneeka has been quoted saying,

I'm a Flintstone for life! My circumstances did not define me, my heart and determination did.  Whatever I can give back, I'm going to give it.

Her first novel “My Husband’s Mistress is Me” was inspired by some lessons of her own and some of those around her. The book is a suspenseful drama that takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions and events. R. Simone hopes that the message that people (especially women) will receive from this book is to maintain control of your own happiness and destiny. Never give someone else total control over your life.
