Michigan Man Convicted Of Raping Underage Girl Found Dead In Jail Cell

Police believe the 54-year-old Harrison man committed suicide in his jail cell.

After being recently served 25 to 50 years in prison for raping a underage girl, 54-year-old John Engle was found dead in his jail cell Saturday morning.

Officers and deputies responded to reports of a dead inmate around 9:30am on Saturday at the Clare County Jail.

Engle was awaiting transfer from Clare County Jail to Jackson State Prison after being found guilty of five counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
