Services will be suspended for a major computer upgrade starting at 5 PM tomorrow.

All of the online sites and physical branches of Michigan's Secretary of State offices will be closed from 5 PM this Friday until Tuesday at 9 AM. They will be undergoing a "vital" computer upgrade during that time.

This upgrade will get rid of a lot of paperwork, meaning that Michigan vehicle owners will be able to order a license plate, renew a snowmobile registration or order a state park passport ALL ONLINE after this. The state says that there will also be options for repair shops and car dealers.

Michigan SOS will waive late fees for people who have expiration dates between Feb. 11 and March 2, saying that it might take staff extra time to acclimate to the new system.
