The Michigan State Police are looking for speeders today, but you might not notice them right away.

That's because the MSP will be sitting in unmarked cars while they focus on some metro Detroit roadways. The sting is part of an ongoing campaign to cut down on excessive speeding in Michigan, called "Operation Slower to Lower."

There will be extra unmarked police cars on select roadways today in and around the Detroit metro area. The areas that the MSP have named are listed below, but it would probably be a safe bet to slow down everywhere just in case.

  • I-75 between M-59 & Sashabaw Rd.
  • The Lodge between Wyoming & Linwood
  • I-96 between Beck & Wixom Rd

This is not the first round of Slower To Lower operations, and the MSP shared the success of their most recent campaign on Twitter.

I realize that normally the speed limit on most Michigan expressways is more of a suggestion than anything else, but today will be a little different.

Make sure to stay within the speed limit or you'll probably be hit with a ticket.
