The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation announced a grant yesterday to help the people volunteering at Covid Vaccine sites in Flint.

The $50,000 grant has been given to the Genesee Chamber Foundation to provide meals to the volunteers working at Covid vaccine sites. The grant money is aimed at rewarding the hard working frontline healthcare workers, but the money will help others in Genesee County as well. The money will be spent at local restaurants that have been hit hard by pandemic restrictions put in place.

Mott Foundation CEO, Ridgway White talked about why this grant is so important.

These volunteers and health care workers are heroes in the battle against COVID-19. They’re doing everything they can to help keep other people safe and healthy. We hope this grant will make their shifts a little more comfortable and remind them that the community is grateful for their commitment

The grant will provide more than 3,000 meals to an average of 75 volunteers per day. The meal distribution started immediately, and will continue Tuesdays through Fridays.

It's hard to imagine where we would be without the work that the Mott Foundation does for Flint and Genesee County. I talk about this all the time, but it's worth pointing out again. Whenever someone from outside of Flint talks about our city, they tend to lean on the negative points. Every time Flint is in the national news, it feels like it is because of a tragedy.

The fact is that Flint is full of amazing people, and incredible philanthropic organizations. The Mott Foundation is just one of the many groups that continue to support Flint through some of the most challenging times.

We bring you The Goods every morning to help start your day with a little positivity. The Goods are brought to you by The Twisted Burger Diner.
