For years we have heard rumors about professional athletes being gay but now we have the proof.

Jason Collins Who is currently a free agent in the NBA finally admits to the world that he is in fact a openly gay man. Collins said in a essay to spots Illustrated "I didn't set out to be the first openly gay man playing in a major American team sport. But since I am, I'm happy to start the conversation." Collins last played for the Washington Wizards he actually has spent time in on 6 different teams through out his career before making the announcement."The Boston Marathon bombing reinforced the notion that I shouldn't wait for the circumstances of my coming out to be perfect. Things can change in an instant, so why not live truthfully?". He had already came out to his close friends and family before going public with his sexuality.

Does this change your perception of a person or athletes in general? for me I am happy that he finally can be himself. I think it is great that he doesn't have to hide who he is I could only imagine what it has been like for him trying to keep something like this so secret but yet be in the public eye all the time. I wonder if this will become a new trend for athletes that are in the closet you know there are more.

Don't be scared boys say it loud I'M GAY AND I'M PROUD.
