Canada announced  on Monday it will open the border to fully vaccinated U.S. citizens beginning August 9th. The rest of the world will need to wait until September 7th.Those wishing to travel to the Great White North can do so starting at 12:01am on August 7th.

Individauls traveling from the U.S. that have received a full course of a COVID-19 vaccine approved for use in Canada will also have the 14 day quarantine waved as well. Those vaccines accepted are Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson according to the Public Health Agency of Canada.

"With the advent of increased vaccination rates in Canada, declining Covid-19 cases and reduced pressure on healthcare capacity, the government intends to bring a number of changes into effect provided that Canada's Covid-19 epidemiology remains favourable," the health agency said in a statement.

As for children, those under the age of 12, and happen to be unvaccinated, that are U.S. citizens accompanied by a  a fully vaccinated parent, step-parent, or guardian will be allowed to enter. Any travelers not meeting all the required eligibility requirements can still be denied entry into Canada,

Although the borders will finally open, the Public Health Agency of Canada does want travelers to know that things can change at the drop of a hat stating,

"Border measures also remain subject to change as the epidemiological situation evolves. As Canada begins to welcome fully vaccinated travellers from the U.S., the Government of Canada will continue to monitor the situation and provide updated travel advice to Canadians."
