The Lions have had a disappointing season, and that's putting it nicely but Lions fans got something to cheer about last night thanks to Calvin Johnson.  Johnson broke the single season receiving yards record held by Jerry Rice along with a few other huge milestones along the way.

Johnson broke the NFL record for consecutive 100 yard receiving games with 8 and consecutive games with at least 10 catches with 4.  He tied Michael Irvin's record of 100 yard receiving games in a season with 11 and is only 108 yards short of becoming the only NFL player ever to notch 2,000 receiving yards in a single season.  Calvin could set that mark during the season finale against Chicago.

The most touching moment of the night happened shortly after Johnson broke the record and asked the referee if he could take the game ball to his dad.  It was a father/son moment that makes any sports fans heart melt.  The fact that he asked the ref if he could do it first though is what speaks volumes about his character.  Calvin is a humble, respectful superstar and Lions fans everywhere should feel honored to have him on our team.  Thank you Calvin for showing us all a flash of greatness.
