Calvin Munerlyn, whose nickname was 'Duper', is being remembered as a "gentle giant."

Munerlyn, who had been a security guard at the Family Dollar store on Saginaw Street in Flint for just over a year, was shot in the head on Friday afternoon. He was 43-years-old and married with eight kids.

Police are holding a press conference today; they confirmed that they're investigating whether or not he was shot because he required a patron to wear a mask.

Masks are required in enclosed spaces (especially stores) by Governor Whitmer's executive order from last week.

His friends told Mid-Michigan Now that "he would have given you the shirt off his back, the food off his table. He was the life of the party."

Funeral plans have not yet been announced; a GoFundMe has been started to help his wife and family cover the costs of his final goodbye.

We'll bring you more information after today's press conference.
