In the press release, the FDA pointed out the danger of Methanol in hand sanitizer.

Methanol is not an acceptable ingredient for hand sanitizers and should not be used due to its toxic effects. Consumers who have been exposed to hand sanitizer containing methanol should seek immediate treatment, which is critical for potential reversal of toxic effects of methanol poisoning

If you are using any sort of hand sanitizer make sure that Methanol is not one of the ingredients. It is also recommended that the sanitizer have at least 60% ethanol. The FDA will continue to update the hand sanitizer list, but they have continually told us that washing your hands for at least 20 seconds is the best way to prevent the spread of the virus.
