A recent study shows that Flint is one of the worst operating cities in the U.S, we ranked 146 outta 150. Well dang.

I would imagine that any list that gets created about Flint we're bound to do poorly on. So it shouldn't be a surprise when a study comes out and proves to us what we already know. I've lived in Flint my whole life and I've seen bad times, and worst times. But only as of recently do I see some economic growth. It only took the governor to poison the whole damn city and lie about it for us to gain some traction.

But I'll stop being petty for a moment and I would like to say that even though we're ranked as one of the worst operating cities in America. We have some beautiful and strong people here. In the next 5 years, I can guarantee we won't rank as bad. And if you live here you can feel the change coming.

The Wallet Hub study measured the effectiveness of local leadership by determining a city’s operating efficiency. A city’s operating efficiency depends on how city officials manage and spend public funds by comparing the quality of services residents receive against the city’s total budget.

The study compares the operating efficiency of 150 of the United State’s largest cities to determine which are operating the best or worst. It used a “quality of service” score, made up of 37 metrics grouped into six service categories, which the study measured against the city’s per-capita budget.

Flint ranked 22 of out 150 cities in terms of financial stability and ranked 71 in terms of infrastructure and pollution control. Former Gov. Rick Snyder ended state receivership in Flint on April 4, 2018. The financial oversight was placed since Snyder declared a financial emergency in Flint in 2011.

The city ranked 110 in safety and ranked 138 in health. Flint’s education was ranked 141 and its economy was ranked the lowest, at 150.
