COVID-19 has wreaked havoc on 2020 and the new death toll in Michigan has reached a new milestone. So far over 10,000 Michiganders have lost their lives to this pandemic, and the governor has ordered that U.S. Flags in Michigan be lowered to half-staff for 10 days.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has ordered U.S. and Michigan flags within the State Capitol Complex and upon all public buildings and grounds across the state of Michigan to be lowered to half-staff for 10 days -- representing one day per 1,000 deaths – immediately on Tuesday, December 8 through Friday, December 18 to honor and mourn those who have lost their lives due to the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The coronavirus has stayed way longer than all of us expected. We can also say we were not prepared for this at all. The loss of life here in Michigan since the pandemic has started in just those few months is a bit ridiculous. Pfizer has announced that they've been approved to administer the first round of COVID-19 vaccines in Britain this week. Hopefully, trails go great and we can start handing out vaccines here in the U.S.

Now, they're also encouraging local residents and businesses to participate in lowering the U.S. flag to half-staff to honor those who died because of COVID-19.  It's the least we can do to honor those that have fallen victim to this pandemic
