Safe & Active Genesee for Everyone (SAGE) Coalition will be awarding eight $1000 mini-grants to community groups working to further active living in Genesee County. In an effort to promote active living this incentive will also be ideal for groups looking to get off the ground or in need of an extra push to implement community service initiatives. 

SAGE is a collaborative of local advocates, non-profit, private, and government organizations working together to advocate for and support active living initiatives that promote safe opportunities for people to be physically active throughout Genesee County.

SAGE is calling on neighborhood block clubs, associations, community and civic groups, non profit organizations, school groups, or any other interested parties that develop innovative ideas of physical activity integration through walking, bicycling, yard work, or recreation facility use- active living.

Applicants could develop strategies to encourage people to use active transportation, educate others on active living, build or enhance public spaces for physical activity, empower people to advocate for active living or host events or activities that encourage people to be physically active.

APPLICATIONS ARE DUE MARCH 28, 2013 by 5PM. Access the application at www.activegenesee.org or in-person at the Crim Fitness Foundation office, 452 S. Saginaw in Flint.

All prospective applicants are invited to meet Active Living Director Lauren Holaly and other staff to answer questions concerning the application process during open office hours 3:30-6:00 PM, Monday March 11 at the Crim Fitness Office.
