Although it is still a bit cold to start thinking about boating in the great state of Michigan, you should know that the laws have changed in regards to the drunken sailors at the helm of the SS Tanked.

Earlier this week, Governor Rick Snyder signed a piece of legislation to reduce the blood alcohol level for operators of boats, jet skies, snowmobiles and off-road vehicles from .10 to .08, which puts it directly in line with the laws of the road.

“It is vital to keep our waterways and other recreational areas safe for all Michiganders,” Snyder wrote in a statement. “This is common-sense legislation. We want people to operate all vehicles responsibly without harming themselves or others.”

The new law will also prohibit the drivers of recreational vehicles from using illegal drugs, yet there is no word on what impact this could have on medical marijuana patients.
