Last night, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed a new executive order that tightens some restrictions in Michigan.

According to a new executive order signed by Governor Whitmer, Michigan has new restrictions when it comes to indoor gatherings. The amended Safe Start Order (Executive Order 2020-160) now limited the number of people allowed at indoor gatherings to 10 people.  Outdoor gatherings also have a limit of 100 people, except for regions 6 and 8 that can have 250 people in attendance.

This order also calls for bars to close indoor service across the state. Per the new order all bars, in every region, must close to indoor service if they earn more than 70% of the gross through alcohol.

On the flip side of that, Detroit casinos will be allowed to open to the public on August 5th. However, those casinos must limit the number of patrons to 15% capacity. Casinos will be expected to follow all the protocols and conduct daily entry screening for customers as well as employees. Those planning to visit the casinos will be required to wear a face-covering or mask at all times except while eating and drinking or for identification purposes.

While I am a big fan of casinos, I don't think I'll be heading to Detroit anytime soon. I love being able to just sit back and relax while playing a slot machine or too. My friends and I always have a blast, but something about 15% capacity makes me wonder if we would even have a good time. The sounds, lights, and people are half the experience.
