Midland County Dispatch sent out an evacuation notice at 7:09 PM tonight.

At 7:36 PM tonight, dispatch reported that the Edenville Dam on the Tittabawassee River had failed and that the failure of the Sanford Dam is "imminent."

Residents are being told to evacuate, as the fast-moving water is creating an "imminent danger." Governor Gretchen Whitmer is expected to issue an emergency declaration tonight "to ensure state and local officials have the resources they need to respond."

The breach of the Edenville Dam has caused excessive amounts of water to be released into Sanford Lake, which will likely cause the breaching of the Sanford Dam.

According to the Midland Daily News, Midland Township residents on Ashby Road between Poseyville and Patterson roads should evacuate immediately Homer Township residents on East Wheeler Road or Homer Road should evacuate. Residents in Lincoln Township, east of M-30 on any roads between Price and Wackerly should also evacuate.

Shelters at Meridian High School and Coleman High School have been closed due to power outages and flooding. Shelters are now being set up at Midland County ESA, Midland High School, and West Midland Family Center.

Residents are being urged NOT to call 911 unless they are unable to evacuate their homes. US-10 is currently closed at Sanford Lake.
