The Ally Challenge Presented by McLaren To Be Without Fans

It was announced today that the 2020 Ally Challenge presented by McLaren would have a completely different look this year amid ongoing COVID-19 concerns.

In a press release today, tournament officials made the announcement that as a result of the ongoing health and safety issues related to the Coronavirus pandemic and in accordance with the state of Michigan’s Safe Start Plan, it has been determined that competition rounds for the 2020 Ally Challenge presented by McLaren, Friday, July 31 through Sunday, August 2, will be played without general public or corporate hospitality attendance at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club.

This was to be the third year for the popular tournament held in Grand Blanc. Attendance has been high in the past with golf enthusiast and community excited about having the return a professional golf to the area once again. Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club had hosted the Buick Open since its debut in 1958. The last year for that tournament was 2009.

Other activities associated with the Ally challenge presented by McLaren have also been canceled including the popular community concert that in the past has featured both Big & Rich and Dierks Bentley on stage.

The Ally Challenge Presented by McLaren prides itself in being part of the local community and contributing to the economy as well as the charities in the area. The press release assured that one element of this year’s The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren that will not be disrupted is the charitable initiatives and fundraising platforms. The tournament notes that those are the foundation of this community focused event.

Tournament directors hoped to move forward with third staging of the event as normal, but know that safety of the players and the community is a priority. ”We are looking forward to hosting the third installment of The Ally Challenge in just a few weeks,” said Andrea Brimmer, chief marketing and public relations officer, Ally. “While it will look a bit different this year, the tournament’s overall impact on this community through charitable giving and boosting the local economy remains its ultimate purpose. We can’t wait for the greatest fans in golf to join us again at Warwick Hills in 2021.”

You will still be able to catch all the action from Warwick Hills. All three rounds of The Ally Challenge will be broadcast on Golf Channel in the United States. Internationally, telecasts air in more than 170 countries and territories, reaching more than 340 million potential households, and are distributed in 15+ markets via GOLFTV.
