Trio of Former Pistons Headline The Ice Cube ‘BIG3 League’
Basketball fans everywhere should be geeked for the new 'Big3 League' that Ice Cube is putting together, especially after the announcement of the big name Pistons that are joining.
Mr. Big Shot, Chauncey Billups will join the league as a player, along with Allen Iverson. Former Pistons champion, Rick Mahorn, will also be a part of the league as a player coach.
If you haven't heard about the upcoming 3 on 3 league that Ice Cube is putting together, get ready to be amazed. Cube is backing the league that is assembling 8 teams consisting of former NBA stars, and have them play 3 on 3 games during the summer.
The seasons starts June 24th, and will run for 10 weeks. The games will be played every Saturday from a different big city, concluding with the championship game in August.
There are some big names lined up to play in the new league as well. So far the list includes the following:
Chauncey Billups, Allen Iverson, Jason Williams, Kenyon Martin, Stephen Jackson, Jermaine O'Neal, Rashard Lewis, Mike Bibby, Al Harrington, Bonzi Wells, and Ricky Davis.
The coaching category will have some legendary names in it, including the original Pistons Bad Boy, Rick Mahorn. Other big names are Gary Payton, Clyde Drexler, George Gervin, and Rick Barry.
Other big names that will be playing as free agents include, Latrell Sprewell, Kenny Anderson, JR Rider, and Earl Boykins from Eastern Michigan, along with many others.
There are some unique rules that will go into the league. Games will be played to 60 points, and teams have to win by four. There will be a four point circle on the court to add some drama.
So far there is no word on how we will watch the league on TV, but if you're a real basketball fan, this is must see TV.
