This note allegedly left by a patients father at Hurley Medical Center has become the centerpiece of racial discrimination charges at Hurley.  The CEO finally broke her silence and addressed the issue.

The lawsuit against Hurley was filed by a nurse who has worked with the hospital for the last 25 years.  She claims that she was reassigned because of a note left by an infants father asking that no African-American nurses tend to his child.

The suit gained national attention after the Michigan chapter of Al Sharpton’s National Action Network held a news conference at the hospital Tuesday.  Since the conference, the CEO of Hurley Medical Center broke her silence and an attorney denied the note ever being placed on the baby's bed.

There is no doubt that this will be a very heated situation for Hurley in the next few weeks while both sides try to find out the truth.
