Kerry Washington will be in Flint on Saturday to help promote the NAACP 'Get Out The Vote' campaign.

Washington has been very active in politics over her career, and is helping people realize that they do have a voice when it comes to voting issues. I had the chance to talk to her about where her passion for voting comes from, and it goes back to her upbringing.

She talked about how her parents used to treat her first voting day as a celebration. They would go out to dinner, and talk about the issues, and all go to the ballot together. I think this is such a good idea, and I am definitely going to do the same with my kids. You can hear our entire conversation below.

The event on Saturday happens on the lawn of Flint City Hall. It is free for anyone that would like to come, and there will be plenty of entertainment for the entire family. Kerry will be at the event taking pictures and talking to everyone about how important voting is in our political process.

You'll be able register to vote, and actually cast your ballot at the event! Things get started in Downtown Flint at 10am, so make sure your voice is heard. Check out the flyer below for all of the details.
