Michigan is one of 17 states where Kroger stores will add CBD lotions, balms, oils and creams to their shelves this week.
CBD -- or cannabidiol -- is derived from the cannabis plant and can be used to relieve pain and anxiety. Most CBD is derived from hemp -- which was federally legalized by the 2018 U.S. Farm Bill. CBD products can only contain up to 0.3 percent THC -- tetrahydrocannabinol -- which means they do not cause the psychoactive effects that marijuana users experience.
