Voting by mail has been a hot topic lately, so it's important for you to know that you don't have to mail in your ballot.

There has been a lot of controversy surrounding absentee or voting by mail this political season, and it's lead to some confusion. The USPS went so far as to issue a statement ahead of the primary voting in Michigan, that people should personally drop off their ballot instead of mailing it.

With the general election coming quickly, voting officials in Michigan are trying to get ahead of the problems that the primary exposed. One of the solutions is to have a ton of locations where voters can drop their ballot at any time leading up to the election.

Right now Michigan has roughly 900 ballot drop box locations around the state. Genesee County has 24 locations listed. You can see the complete list of ballot drop boxes here. The list is organized alphabetically by county to make it easier to search.

It feels like everything to do with voting this year has turned into an argument between political parties. The one thing that is indisputable though is that any eligible voter can vote by mail if they wish. If you have question about your voting status, you can get all of your questions answered at the Michigan Voter Information Center here.

It doesn't matter how you do it, but you need to make sure your voice is heard by voting this year.
