There are five items on the ballot for Genesee County residents to decide today.

Flint residents have the bulk of the decision making as they step up to vote. Here are the two items that the people of Flint will be voting on.

Flint City Council

Primary voting for six of the nine wards in Flint happens today.  More than 20 candidates are vying for the city council spots. The top two vote getters in each ward will advance to the vote in November.  Mlive has the complete list of Flint City Council candidates here.

Flint City Charter

The changes to the Flint City Charter have been worked on for the last couple of years by a review commission. Some of the bigger points include creating an ethics standard, clarifying the role of the city council, and budget review.  You can read the full, 80 plus page charter here.

Burton City Council

Seven people are running for three available seats on the Burton City Council.

Also on the ballot are a millage for Byron Schools and a Bond for Millington schools.  Information on both of those items can be found here.
