Grand Blanc and Frankenmuth are both one win away from playing for a state championship at Ford Field.

The 2021 High School Football Playoffs have been full of surprises, and this weekend's regional championship games were no different. After the dust settled, two area teams kept their perfect records alive and were crowned Regional Champions.

Both Grand Blanc and Frankenmuth went into the regional championship game with no losses. Frankenmuth was a heavy favorite to win against Kingsley, but Grand Blanc found themselves as the underdog for the first time all season. Fortunately, both teams were able to pull off huge wins.

Grand Blanc had their toughest game of the year against Rockford, who was ranked number 1 in the state. It's so rare that you have two powerhouses meeting each other in the regional game, but trust me when I tell you that the game lived up to all the hype.

Grand Blanc ended up with a 28-27 win over Rockford in a game that came down to the final minute. Rockford had lined up to kick an extra point that would have tied the game, but faked it and tried to get the win.

Grand Blanc was able to stop the 2-point attempt and hold on for the win. The Bobcats picked up the Regional Championship Trophy after the win, and GB kicker Dylan Hertzberg put his name in the Grand Blanc record books.

The celebration won't last long for Grand Blanc though as they have to get ready for another tough game.

The Bobcats will face undefeated Rochester Adams on Saturday in the Semi-finals. The game is this Saturday at Howell, kickoff is at 1 pm.

Frankenmuth is no stranger to Regional Championships considering this is their 4th title in the last six years.

The Eagles nearly doubled up Kingsley in the Championship game, but the game did not start that way. Frankenmuth had to play from behind but ended up with the win.

Frankenmuth will have their toughest opponent of the season in the semifinal game this weekend.

Frankenmuth will take on undefeated Grand Rapids Catholic Central this Saturday in Mt. Pleasent. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 pm and you can get tickets to the game here.

Good luck to both Grand Blanc and Frankenmuth this weekend. Hopefully, we will be watching you play at Ford Field for a state championship!
