High School Football Playoffs are rolling into the second round, and there are 8 area teams that are fighting to keep their Ford Field dreams alive.

The first round of the playoffs brought a lot of controversy after the selection process was changed by the MHSAA. The good thing about a tournament though is that the teams that are supposed to be there, usually end up advancing.

That's what we see in the second round of the playoffs coming this weekend. Many of the teams that barely made it into the playoffs have made an early exit. That trend will continue as the field gets cut in half again this weekend.

Division 1

Howell (8-2) at Grand Blanc (10-0) @ Goodrich High School - Friday at 7pm

Grand Blanc is hoping to keep their undefeated season going, but for the second week in a row, they will be playing at Goodrich High School. The game is still going to feel like a home game for the Bobcats, and they are the favorites to advance.

Division 2

Bay City Western (8-2) @ Traverse City Central (9-1) @ Thirlby Field in Traverse City - Friday at 7pm.

Bay City Western won a thriller over Midland Dow in round one and things aren't going to get any easier against TC Central.

Division 4

Freeland (9-1) at Lake Fenton (9-1) @ Lake Fenton High School - Friday at 7pm.

Both Freeland and Lake Fenton are coming off of big first round wins. Both teams are 9-1 and this is one of those games where you hate to see either teams season end. This is one of the most evenly matched games in round 2, but Lake Fenton is a slight favorite because of the home field advantage.

Division 5
Swan Valley (6-4) at Frankenmuth (10-0) @ Frankenmuth Football Field - Friday at 7pm.
Swan Valley is pretty outmatched against undefeated Frankenmuth. They squeaked out a win in the first round, but Frankenmuth is a heavy favorite in this round two matchup.
Division 6
Millington (10-0) at Lansing Catholic (9-1) @ Lansing Catholic Stadium - Saturday at 1pm
Millington is a playoff mainstay, but this second round matchup against Lansing Catholic will be their toughest game of the season so far. Millington is hoping to keep their undefeated record in tact, and advance on to round 3.
Division 7
New Lothrop (7-3) at Pewamo-Westphalia (10-0) @ Pirate FB Field - Friday at 7pm
I would normally never suggest betting against New Lothrop, but this will be a tough game for them. New Lothrop has enjoyed so much success in the playoffs recently, that it's hard to count them out of any game.
